Object: Comments from the No-Nutriscore Alliance on themodification of the Beating Cancer Plan, concerning alcoholicbeverages, during the Plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
We warmly welcome the changes to the Beating Cancer Plan, regarding alcoholic beverages, approved yesterday during the Plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
In fact, in wine labels a differentiation between moderate and “harmful” consumption of alcoholic beverages will be proposed, since it is not consumption in itself that constitutes a risk factor for cancer. But the reference to health warnings on labels has also been deleted from the text, with the suggestion of improving the labelling of alcoholic beverages by including information on moderate and responsible consumption of alcohol.
As all this demonstrates, the correct and balanced use of products could be included in a balanced diet, as many dieticians claim.
Now it is necessary to continue along this path, with the aim of completely stopping the deceptive Nutriscore, a system that is dangerous for the health of consumers and discriminatory for the work of producers.
It’s science and it’s common sense.
